BackWaste Management in Tarakan

Effective waste management is crucial for ensuring sustainable cities, as it promotes a clean and healthy environment, prevents pollution, and enhances overall quality of life. At our Tarakan asset in North Kalimantan, we collaborated with the Lovcal Environmental Agency to establish Tarakan City's waste management program, “Sampah Semesta”.

This program leverages partnerships with local waste banks, including Bais, Paguntaka, and Sinar Duri, to transform waste into income-generating opportunities while promoting the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R). Notably, Paguntaka Trash Bank alone collected and managed over 6,285 kilograms of non-organic waste between June 2021 and May 2022, diverting an equivalent of 569 kilograms of waste from landfills per month.
